By December 2019, the School of Humanities has 164 faculty members and 1921 current students, including 288 undergraduate students, 154 postgraduate students, 74 PhD students, 1405 language students. The school has 128 full-time teachers, including 33 professors and 30 faculty members with overseas doctoral degrees or from overseas. Among all the professors, there are 3 Distinguished University Professors of Humanities and Social Sciences, 6 Chair Professors, one Distinguished Changjiang Scholar Approved by the Ministry of Education, one Foreign Member of Academia Europaea, one Corresponding Member of International Academy of the History of Science, one professor selected to “Shanghai Thousand Talents Plan”, and two professors selected to “Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University” supported by Ministry of Education. The school also employs 6 visiting professors and 6 post-doctoral fellows as an important supplement to the faculty.
From 2011 to 2 December 2019, the School of Humanities has undertaken 57 projects supported by the National Social Science Foundation, including 17 major projects, among which 8 are rolling projects and one is the anti-Japanese War research project. 26 projects of humanities and social sciences are supported by Ministry of Education, and 21 projects are supported by the Shanghai Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences. Between 2010 and 2019, the school won 17 prizes for outstanding achievements in the study of philosophy and social sciences in Shanghai, and 3 prizes for outstanding achievements in scientific research among institutions of higher education.
The School of Humanities has also witnessed an increasing number of Class A and B papers, CSSCI listed papers, publications, and research funds. From 2011 to 2019, 863 CSSCI listed papers were published, among which 126 were classified as Class A and B papers.
