Prof. Manuel Perez-Garcia’s New Book Presentation Held at the Consulate General of Mexico in Shanghai

        On May 27, 2021, Prof. Manuel Perez-Garcia’s new book presentation was held at the Consulate General of Mexico in Shanghai. Staff from the Consulate General of Mexico in Shanghai and faculty members from the School of Humanities at SJTU attended the event. 




        Amb. Lorena Larios, Consul General of Mexico in Shanghai, expressed her welcome to Prof. Manuel Perez-Garcia and briefly introduced his new book Global History with Chinese Characteristics. Later, Prof. Manuel Perez-Garcia presented his new book which analyses the feeble state capacity of Qing China questioning the so-called “High Qing” era’s economic prosperity as the political system was set into a “power paradox” or “supremacy dilemma”, and exchanged ideas with the audience after the talk. 



        Published as Open Access, the book Global History with Chinese Characteristics is now available online.
