On November 28, 2020, Shanghai Vocal Music Session of the 6th National College Student Art Exhibition and Performance was held at Jingjing Hall on Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). With the theme of “Striving, Innovation and Dedication”, the event was organized by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and hosted by SJTU.

A total of 50 vocal music works selected from 46 Shanghai-based colleges and universities were performed at the session and judged by 7 professional art judges from Shanghai Opera House, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Beihang University and so on. Mr. Chen Kehong, Director of Shanghai Municipal Art Education Commission and Mr. Wang Weiming, Vice President and Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Committee of SJTU were present at the session and gave their instructions. As Mr. Wang stressed, “The College Student Art Exhibition and Performance provides the college students with a platform to learn from each other and to express themselves. ”

Given the COVID-19 prevention and control, the event was held in the form of video-based review. The videos of the art works were submitted in advance and the professional art judges reviewed the works and gave scores respectively.

The Impression of Peking Opera by SJTU Student Chorus was also submitted to the exhibition. The work was conducted by Ms. Zhang Qin from the School of Humanities and performed in mixed chorus with no accompanying music, demonstrating the perfect combination of the quintessential Chinese art form - Peking Opera and chorus skills.
