Shanghai Jiao Tong University Participated in the Establishment of the Academic Association for International Cultural Exchange

On December 3, the Inaugural Ceremony of the Academic Association for International Cultural Exchange (AAICE) and the Symposium on International Cultural Exchange in the New Era was held at Renmin University of China (RUC). AAICE was initiated by RUC and joined by 23 universities and research institutes including Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Peking University, Fudan University, East China Normal University, Xiamen University and Wuhan University. AAICE aims to innovate the mechanism for academic research collaboration in international cultural exchange and study the major issues concerning international cultural exchange in the new era. Officials from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Education attended the inaugural ceremony and congratulated AAICE on its establishment.

Following the nomination and voting at the ceremony, the President, the Vice President and the Executive Director of AAICE were elected respectively. Professor Wang Ning, Dean of the School of Humanities (SOH), SJTU was elected as the Vice President of AAICE, and Professor Cheng Aimin from SOH was elected as the Executive Director. Chen Ke, Deputy Director of SJTU’s International Affairs Division, and Wu Jianfeng, Deputy Dean of SOH were elected as the Director.

Following the inaugural ceremony, the First Session of the First Council of AAICE and the conference on AAICE-related work were held on the same day.
