Double Degree Program Agreement Signed between School of Humanities, SJTU and Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mahidol University

On October 23rd, 2019, at the opening of SJTU Study Abroad Fair held on Minhang Campus, the School of Humanities, SJTU and the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mahidol University, held a double degree program agreement signing ceremony. Wang Ning and Thanayus Thanathiti, Deans of both sides, signed the agreement, which aims at training undergraduates majoring in Chinese Language.



Wang Ning, Dean of the School of Humanities at SJTU, delivered a speech at the ceremony. He was pleased to see the cooperation between the two universities and hoped they could jointly cultivate talents proficient in Chinese and make them a bridge between the two cultures. Wang further added that this event was a positive response to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and would help promote further cooperation in education and research between SJTU and universities in the BRI countries, and promote the dialogue of distinct cultures in a more profound way.


Mahidol University has its origins in the establishment of Siriraj Hospital in 1888, and the hospital’s medical school is the oldest institution of higher education in Thailand. Internationally known for its achievement in medical science, public health, and natural science, it has been recognized as the second best university in Thailand. Through this cooperation, the School of Humanities will promote more collaboration with the BRI countries in the field of joint research and the joint cultivation of talents.
