The Delegation from Heidelberg University Visited the School of Humanities, SJTU

On September 10th, 2019, Professor Barbara Mittler, Director of the Heidelberg Center for Transcultural Studies (HCTS), Petra Thiel and Zhai Yijiang, Managing Directors of Confucius Institute Heidelberg, visited the School of Humanities. They were warmly received by Qi Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Humanities, Liu Jialin, Vice Dean, Wu Jianfeng, Vice Dean, Wu Hua, Director of the Office of Academic Affairs, Mo Xiaoling, Director of the Office of Cooperation and Exchange, and a few other teachers. They had a heated discussion in Room 206, No.1 Lecture Building on Xuhui Campus.



During the meeting, Qi Hong extended a warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of the School of Humanities. She mentioned that the School of Humanities had visited Heidelberg University in May and both sides communicated their intent to create future student exchange cooperation. She was happy about the delegation’s visit and hoped that through this meeting, both sides could finalize projects that had been discussed before and implement them in the near future. Both sides discussed clearly and with great detail their intents and agreed that the student exchange agreement would be signed as soon as possible so that the exchange program could be implemented soon.



After the meeting, Professor Barbara Mittler delivered a speech titled “Who Owns Classical Music? Chinese Musicians on Stages of the World”, and had a fruitful discussion with the teachers and students after the talk. In parting, the delegation from Heidelberg University expressed their satisfaction in visiting the School of Humanities, as well as looking forward to future visits and communications.
