On the afternoon of December 4, a delegation from the School of Humanities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, led by Qi Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Humanities, visited the Greek Consulate General in Shanghai. The delegation included Associate Professor Wen Yadi; Mo Xiaoling, Director of the International Office; and Wang Yixuan from the University's Division of Global Cooperation and Exchange. They were warmly received by Greek Consul General Spyridon Kritikos and Diplomatic Consul Dimitrios Foukis. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on deepening Sino-Greek educational and cultural exchanges and expanding practical cooperation, reaching broad consensus.

Qi Hong introduced the development overview of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the School of Humanities, with a focus on the current cooperation with the the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens(hereinafter referred to as “University of Athens”) and the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos.” (hereinafter referred to as “Demokritos”). She emphasized that the School of Humanities, as a core force in the university's liberal arts development, carries the important mission of inheriting civilization and bridging China and the world. The school actively expands substantive cooperation with top overseas universities, promotes international research collaboration, and is committed to cultivating innovative talents with both humanistic and scientific literacy as well as global competence. In the future, the school will continue to build a stable partnership with the University of Athens, fostering in-depth dialogue and interaction in the humanities through scholar exchanges, academic seminars, and bilateral cultural activities.
Wen Yadi presented the latest progress of "The China–Greece Joint Laboratory for Cultural Heritage" co-established with the “Demokritos”. She noted that the laboratory focuses on cross-civilization comparative research in archaeology and the study of ancient specialized crafts in Eurasia, having achieved phased results. Leveraging “Demokritos‘’” strengths in information technology and Shanghai Jiao Tong University's innovations in artificial intelligence, the laboratory aims to explore interdisciplinary approaches in archaeology and cultural heritage. It will create a series of immersive digital exhibitions on Sino-Greek cultural heritage from the perspective of mutual learning among civilizations, and organize touring exhibitions in renowned museums of both countries, achieving the organic integration of academic, social, and economic value.
Consul General Spyridon Kritikos welcomed the delegation and highly praised the cooperation achievements between the SJTU and the University of Athens and the “Demokritos”. He affirmed that the Greek Consulate General in Shanghai will fully support cooperation in education, research, and culture, providing all necessary assistance and guarantees for academic exchanges and project advancement. He also expressed his hope to jointly organize more Sino-Greek cultural exchange activities in the future, further bridging the distance between the people of the two countries.
This meeting has laid a solid foundation for Shanghai Jiao Tong University to deepen its cooperation with Greece in education, culture, and other fields. In the future, both sides will expand their areas of collaboration and jointly write a new chapter in Sino-Greek cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
