The advancement round of the 5th “Stories of China Retold in English” Challenge recently concluded, featuring 19 international students from our School. Fifteen received Excellence Certificates in the preliminary stage, with 11 advancing to higher rounds. Egyptian language student Hua Xiaowen clinched the Grand Prize. Chinese language undergraduates Luo Wenna and Wang Jiaomeng won First Prize and Second Prize respectively, while four others secured Third Prize and four earned Honorable Mentions.
Organized under the guidance of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, China Education Press Agency, and the China Education Association for International Exchange, this cultural exchange initiative is co-hosted by the China institute for Innovation & Development Strategy, China Education Television, and NewChannel International Education Group Limited. As China's premier platform promoting traditional culture among global youth, its mission to "show Chinese culture in two languages (English and Chinese) and to understand China through stories" empowers students to explore China's heritage, advance cross-cultural dialogue, and showcase the nation's trustworthy, lovable and respectable image worldwide.
Launched in November 2024, the competition attracted 4,366 participants from 269 Chinese universities. The highly competitive event progressed through preliminary, advanced, and final showcase stages. The International Office of the School of Humanities and the International Chinese Education Center ensured contestants' success through tailored coaching and comprehensive preparation support.
