On October 8, 2021, the online orientation for the double bachelor degree program was held between the School of Humanities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Mahidol University (MU). Faculty members from both universities and the double bachelor degree program students attended the orientation.
Prof. Natthapong Chanyoo, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts at MU, delivered a welcome address to the attendees. He mentioned that the double bachelor degree program agreement was signed in October 2019 between SJTU and MU, both of which were world-renowned universities with a good academic reputation. He also mentioned that this year witnessed the first batch of 33 program students and he believed that the program would cultivate talents proficient in Chinese and make them a bridge between China and Thailand.
Ms. Qi Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Humanities at SJTU, also delivered a speech. She extended sincere gratitude to faculty members of both universities for their dedication to the program, and encouraged program students to work hard to improve their Chinese language skills and contribute to the bilateral exchanges in the future. She also stressed that this program was simply the beginning of the cooperation, and both universities would continue to strengthen connections and promote more collaboration in the fields of culture and education.
Faculty and staff from both universities later gave a detailed introduction to the double bachelor degree program and answered program students’ questions related to courses, accommodation, visa, etc. Program students also expressed their expectation for the future study at SJTU.
