Humanities, Business and Law: Shanghai Jiao Tong University-The University of Murcia Bilateral Workshop Successfully Held

On November 11th, 2019, the opening ceremony of “Humanities, Business and Law: Shanghai Jiao Tong University-The University of Murcia Bilateral Workshop” was held on Minhang Campus, SJTU. Juan José Zaballa, Counselor of the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office in Shanghai, Senena Corbalan Garcia, Vice President of the University of Murcia, Guo Liang, Deputy Director of International Affairs Division of SJTU, Qi Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Humanities, representatives from Antai College of Economics and Management and KoGuan School of Law, the delegation from the University of Murcia, as well as the faculty and students of the School of Humanities attended the ceremony hosted by Liu Jialin, Vice Dean of the School of Humanities.




 On behalf of SJTU, Guo Liang delivered the welcome address. She said that she was very pleased to see the UM delegation here at SJTU and to witness the successful collaboration between the two universities.

Qi Hong delivered a speech on behalf of the School of Humanities. She reviewed the previous communications between the two universities and mentioned, in particular, that this May, the delegation from the School of Humanities visited the University of Murcia and both sides reached a consensus on holding the bilateral workshop. She said that with the joint efforts of both universities in the past few months, the bilateral workshop had finally become a reality. She further added that there would be a range of academic and cultural exchanges in the following three days, and that this workshop was simply a start to future cooperation between the two universities in numerous fields.


In the afternoon, the workshop entitled “Sino-Spanish Dialogue on Humanities” was held in room 312 in the School of Humanities, SJTU. The UM delegation, and the faculty and students of the School of Humanities at SJTU attended the workshop. The delegates discussed a range of issues related to arts and humanities, such as translation, flamenco, Chinese philosophy, Internet literature in China and so on. The attendees later had a heated discussion and they looked forward to further communications next time.


 Afterwards, Wang Ning, Dean of School of Humanities, SJTU, received the UM delegation. Both sides exchanged ideas and discussed future prospects for the joint publication of papers in bilingual collections.


Humanities, Business and Law: Shanghai Jiao Tong University-The University of Murcia Bilateral Workshop was hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Murcia, and organized by the School of Humanities, Antai College of Economics and Management and KoGuan School of Law. It was held from 11 to 13 November 2019 and mainly explored such themes as “Sino-Spanish Dialogue on Humanities”, “Sustainable Development in a New Era: China and Spain” and “Sino-Spanish Collaboration in Legal Studies”. It aims to promote the communication and exchange between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Murcia in Spain, promote collaboration in joint research and student cultivation, and further implement the internationalization strategy of SJTU.
