Chinese Cultural Contest for International Students Held by School of Humanities

On May 30th afternoon, Chinese Cultural Contest for International Students, hosted by School of Humanities and organized by International Student Council, held in Room 208, NO.1 Lecture Building. The contest has attracted 8 teams consisting of 24 international students from 10 countries.



Focusing on Chinese cultural knowledge, the contest combined culture, knowledge with interestingness. Five sections, namely “Character Discrimination”, “Chinese Culture”, “Identify idioms by pictures”, “Listen and Imitate” and “Where to Go”, were specially set for the contest. 



The organizers divided participants into 8 teams on the basis of nationality, grade and gender. Contestants were so devoted into the competition that it was unexpectedly intense. 



The judges explained some abstruse subjects and added Chinese traditions, culture and history related to the subjects.



Finally, judges as well as organizers announced the result of the contest. Teacher Gu Ying awarded prizes to the winning team.



“We can tell that our international students have laid a solid foundation of Chinses study and commanded profound Chinese traditional cultural knowledge. Chinese cultural contest not only provides a platform to express and improve themselves, but also enhances their affection to China and Chinese culture.” said Teacher Gu Ying——one of the judges of the contest.



“We aim to enrich the extracurricular life of international students and to help international students get more comprehensive understanding of Chinese culture.” said Wongsuwan Watchareewan from Thailand, the main organizer of the contest.
