German Culture Week- A Day of University of Heidelberg

On October 30, the sixth Culture Week with the theme of German Culture Week was going on its second day. The Culture Week was sponsored by the School of Humanities, The National Cultural Quality Education Base for College Students and Division of International Cooperation and Exchange. It is co-sponsored by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Library. Professor Thomas Smith from University of Heidelberg, Professor Zilch Leoped and Professor Babara Miller have delivered four wonderful speeches for the students.


At eight oclock in the morning, Professor Thomas Smith held a seminar, which was hosted by the associate professor Liu Jialin, who from the School of Humanities.


At one clock in the afternoon, Professor Zilch Leoped gave a lecture with the title of “The Invention of German National Opera around 1800”. His lecture mainly talked around the development history of German opera, its musical features and opera itself as well as the bildungsroman of those opera musicians, with Mozart included.


At six in the afternoon that day, professor Zilch Leoped presented in our Cyanine Cyanine Hall Forum as a guest. He elaborated the minuet and contredanse in 1800 with a form of workshop. In addition, he also brought out a heated discussion of the musical features of Mozart and Beethoven.


The three professors from Heidelberg have bought a culture workshop, which expanded our horizon greatly through he students enthusiastic involvements.
