Schoolof Humanities Met with Prof. Keith Brown, Vice President of University of Manchester

On the afternoon of September 12, 2012,Zheng Chengliang, Vice President of SJTU, Wang Jie, Dean of SOH, Shan Shilian,Associate Dean of SOH, He Yifeng, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, welcomed onMinhang Campus the delegation led by Prof. Keith Brown, Vice President ofUniversity of Manchester, and Mike Gibbons, Director of InternationalDevelopment. Vice President Zheng Chengliang first expressed his warm welcome tothe delegation led by Prof. Brown and then introduced to the guests who werevisiting SJTU for the first time the developments and achievements of SJTU inrecent years. Vice President Zheng Chengliang stated that the two universitieshad established close cooperation on Humanities and Business Studies, and hopedto deepen the cooperation and to further expand cooperation in otherdisciplines. He also expressed his agreements with Vice President Brown, sayingthat cooperation could be further established on other social sciences, such aslaw, political science and public relations.

In the following time, the two professorsfrom the University of Manchester had conducted in-depth and fruitful talks,which were centered on the exchange of students and scholars, jointestablishment of research center, the possibility of student exchanges in musicand arts, etc. During the talks, Vice President Brown repeatedly invited Prof.Wang Jie and Shan Shilian to visit University of Manchester and to deliverspeeches, further promoting mutual understanding and cooperation. Prof. WangJie also invited the two guests to come and join ”The Third Sino-BritishBilateral Forum on Marxist Aesthetics” to be held in SOH in April next year.

At the end of the meeting, the group led byVice President Brown exchanged presents with Wang Jie, Dean of SOH, and posed for pictures.
