The Sixth SJTU Liuhe International Young Scholars Forum on Humanities Held Successfully

On November 29, 2024, the School of Humanities held the Sixth SJTU Liuhe International Young Scholars Forum on Humanities which was also one of the sub-forums of the Fifth SJTU “Zhi Yuan” International Young Scholars Forum. 





Prof. Wu Jun, Dean of the School of Humanities at SJTU, delivered a welcome address at the opening ceremony. He introduced the history, development and features of humanities at SJTU and looked forward to academic exchanges during the forum.




Mr. Ren Xiaowen, Vice President of Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations,  expressed that the forum was a grand gathering of outstanding young scholars, and also a platform to further promote exchanges and cooperation among the academic community of humanities and social sciences in Shanghai.




Mr. Yu Zhaoyang, Assistant to President of SJTU, introduced the history and development of SJTU and expressed his hope that the young scholars would actively participate in discussions and exchanges during the forum and contribute to the development of humanities and social sciences.




Ms. Qi Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Humanities at SJTU, expressed her thanks to Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations for its long-term support for the development of humanities at SJTU. She hoped that through this forum, the collaboration and exchanges in humanities and social sciences among universities in Shanghai would be further promoted.





Ms. Qi Hong introduced the history and development of the School of Humanities to young scholars at home and abroad.




Ms. Tan Huihui, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Liuhe Zhiqian Private Equity Fund, reviewed the collaboration between the School of Humanities at SJTU and the Fund, and expressed her wish to strengthen cooperation to promote the development of humanities at SJTU.




Ms. Hong Nana, Deputy Director of the Talent Introduction and Development Center of the Division of Human Resources at SJTU, introduced the talent policies of SJTU.




Associate Prof. Chen Hao from the Department of History shared his idea of teaching and research at the school. 




Prof. Wang Ning, Distinguished University Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at SJTU, recalled his own experiences of study and research, and believed that the School of Humanities would provide platforms and resources to help young scholar to achieve rapid growth and development.



Each department held a sub-forum, and young scholars attended respective forums according to their area of interest and conducted discussions and exchanges.




Hosted by the School of Humanities, the SJTU Liuhe International Young Scholars Forum on Humanities is designed for outstanding young scholars all over the world. It is our hope that, through key lectures, seminars and talent exchanges, a platform will be established for worldwide young scholars with excellent academic background in literature, history, philosophy and art to promote understanding and share insights, that the development strategy, discipline construction, scientific research and faculty policies of SJTU and the School of Humanities can be fully understood, and that young scholars will be motivated to achieve their aspirations at SJTU, boosting the development of humanities.
