From July 4 to 5, 2024, Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Heidelberg University 2024 International Graduate Student Conference was successfully held in Heidelberg, Germany. Jointly hosted by the School of Humanities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Centre for Asian and Cultural Studies (CATS) and the Confucius Institute at Heidelberg University, the conference has been held for two consecutive sessions, and this year marks the third session and the first offline session.
A panel of experts including Dr. Petra Thiel, German Director of the Confucius Institute at Heidelberg University, Prof. Lena Henningsen from Heidelberg University, and Associate Prof. Li Juan and Shi Donglai from the School of Humanities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University were invited to review the conference papers. Nine master and doctoral students from both universities were selected to attend the conference in Heidelberg.
During the two-day conference, Prof. Babara Mittler, Director of CATS at Heidelberg University, Dr. Petra Thiel, Prof. Lena Henningsen, Associate Prof. Li Juan, and Prof. Wu Yun from the School of Humanities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University acted as the moderator and respondent. The students gave speeches on “Forms of Embodiment: Transcultural Perspectives” respectively and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions, and Wu Yue from SJTU was awarded “Sheng-sheng Best Student Paper Award”.
