The First Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition of International Students of the School of Humanities Successfully Held at SJTU

 On June 14, 2024, “Studying Chinese Calligraphy at SJTU”, the first Chinese calligraphy exhibition of international students of the School of Humanities, was successfully held at SJTU. Zhang Qingling, Vice-chairperson of Shanghai Women’s Federation, Hu Weiwei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SJTU Committee, Qi Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of SJTU’s School of Humanities, and Su Zhuojun, Executive Deputy Director of SJTU’s Women’s Committee, attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was moderated by Prof. Wang Jun, Assistant for the Dean of the School of Humanities and Director of the International Chinese Education Center.




Qi Hong presented a certificate to the international students who presented their works in the exhibition. Prof. Zhou Bin from the School of Humanities introduced the calligraphy education of international students at SJTU. Denisa, an international student from Romania, shared her experience of studying calligraphy at SJTU.




The unveiling ceremony of the “Shanghai Folk Culture and Family Education Innovation Center” initiated by Shanghai Women’s Federation and Shanghai Folk Culture Society was held.





Then, an activity of calligraphy experience and practice was held.




In recent years, the School of Humanities has explored the Chinese cultural education of international students, and has offered several courses related to Chinese calligraphy to Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages program students and Chinese language students.
