      Chang Liu is interested in the issues at the intersection between Philosophy of Language and Ethics. His research focuses on theories of slurs (What makes racial slurs derogatory and offensive?), the ethics of interpretation (What are the fair interpretations of what someone says?), and the moral psychology of offense (Under what conditions is it appropriate to feel offended?)

Chang Liu completed his Ph.D. in Philosophy (2019) at the University of Western Ontario under the supervision of Robert Stainton. Before Shanghai Jiao Tong University, he worked as a Boya Postdoctoral Fellow at Peking University.
