Qiong Yu is currently working at History Department, Shanghai Jiaotong Unviersity, as a Post-doctoral research fellow. She graduated from English department of East China Normal University, and received her BA in English language and literature. Then she went to Durham Univeristy in the UK for further education, and received her MA in Culture and Difference. In 2018, she received her PhD in Cultural, Literary, and Postcolonial Studies from SOAS University of London. Her research interests are British informal imperialism in the 19th century, Briitsh Consular Serivice in China in the 19th century, Britain’s policy towards China in the 19th century, Sino-British cultural relations in the 19th century, and victorian travel writings.
