He Yanhong, male, was born in April 1965 in Huaiyin County, Jiangsu Province. He is now a professor in School of Humanities in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His titles include: Director of Contemporary Chinese Literature and Culture Research Center, Vice Director of Leftist Culture Research Center, Director of Contemporary Chinese Literature Research Association, Vice President of Literary Critics Association of Jiangsu Province, Vice President of Nanjing Literary Critics Association, Vice President of Contemporary Literature Research Association of Jiangsu Province, etc. His major research field is Contemporary Chinese literature. In 1993, he graduated from the Chinese Department of Peking University with the degree of Master of Arts. In 2000, he graduated from the Chinese Department of Nanjing University with the degree of Doctor of Arts. Later he conducted his post-doctoral research in the Chinese Department of Fudan University. His works include: Chinese Writing: Writing of Contemporary Intellectuals and Modernity, Central Compilation & Translation Press, 2002; Persistence and Resistance, Shanghai People’s Publishing House, 2005; Interventional Writing, Shanghai Joint Publishing House, 2007; Testimony of Spirits, Jilin Publishing Group, 2010; Intellectual’s Spiritual Affairs, Kunlun Publishing House, 2012, etc. He has also published many papers. Some of his edited works include: Biography of Contemporary Chinese Writers, published by Shanghai People’s Publishing House; Collection of 20th Century Chinese Literature: 2001- 2010, 12 Volumes, published by Nanjing Normal University Press, etc. He won titles such as Excellent Achievement hosted by Chinese Contemporary Literature Research Institute, Excellent Achievement of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Jiangsu Province, Prize of Literary Criticism in Jiangsu Province, etc.

Won the Outstanding Achievement Award of the China Contemporary Literature Research Association (in 2010), the third prize in the Eleventh Outstanding Achievement Awards of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Jiangsu Province (in 2011), and the First Literary Criticism Award of Jiangsu Province (in 2010) for his monograph The Testimony of the Spirit;   
Gained the "Jinling Literature Award · Literary Criticism Award" (in 2010) for his paper Wang Anyi's Spiritual Limitations;
